Enjoying EndospermUsually you sip up the liquid endosperm thru a hole, then break it into 2 pieces, and then scoop out the dried endosperm. One of Malaysia's best kept secrets. Perfect for a hot day. Continue reading...
Al Hambra - An addition to the fine North Indian Restaurants in Penang. And a fine addition I would say. It is located off Jalan Tengah, in the rows of shop behind CIMB (formerly known as Southern Bank), just 2 doors down Victoria Station. My dearest chotu and I were there for dinner. It is a cozy place, great place to have guest/expats, 'majlis' and family for a nice dinner. For starters they served Papad (Papadam) accompanied by green minty Chutney and onions. Dipping the papad into the chutney gives a nice taste to this crunchy snack. Ordered some Stuffed Potato Tandoor as well while deciding on the main course. Was ok for stuffed potatoes. For the main course, we ordered Kadai Chicken, Chap Masala, Palak Paneer, Briyana (Basmati) Rice and Tandoori Naan. Requested the Kadai Chicken to be extra spicy, and no regrets. It consists of boneless chicken in gravy with a distinct flavor, possibly dried fenugreek leaves. The gravy was wonderful and couldn't stop enjoying it. Highly recommended, and if you're up to it, ask it to be extra spicy. Chap Masala, soft, tender mutton (probably the thigh) served in gravy rich with spices. The mutton was succulent and well done. Must-have for mutton lovers. The Palak Paneer, so favorite dish for North Indians, is spinach beat with cottage cheese. My dearest ordered Green Peas Basmati (Briyani) Rice. I wasn't that eager, for green peas, but was proven wrong. The rice was fragrant, the peas were rather fresh, and not dried-up as you'd usually get outside. Also ordered the Tandoori Roti. Both Rice and the Roti went nicely with the mutton and chicken dish. For desert we had Masala Tea and Kulfi. For those not familar, Kulfi is a must have desert dish at North Indian Restaurant. How Wikipedia puts it "Kulfi is a popular South Asian dessert made with boiled milk. It comes in many flavours, including pistachio, malai, mango, cardamom (elaichi), saffron (kesar), the more traditional flavors, as well as newer variations like apple, orange, peanut, and avocado. Where western ice creams are whipped with air or overrun, kulfi contains no air; it is solid dense frozen milk. Therefore kulfi is not ice cream. It is a related, but distinct, category of frozen dairy based dessert." It is definely creamier and more lavish then most ice-creams. Imagine Hagen-Dazz Vanila, and you're close to imagining Kulfi. And Al Hambra's Kulfi did not dissappoint. Last we had the Masala Tea. Serving was nice. The tea was average. Still best Masala tea would be Bharat's Masala Tea at Cameron Highlands. Summary Delicious North Indian Dishes, with the items in the main course and dessert a must have. Price range is mid to high, but relatively reasonably priced compared to some other Tandoor Places. I'd highly recommend the Kadai Chicken. They also have a buffet lunch option at ~RM15 and lower for the vegetarian option. Hopefully will review this soon.

Online interbank transfer for only RM0.50? Too goo to be true. Better believe it, it's true, for now. Bank Islam. Not bad interface. Cons is it doesn't have a detailed internet transaction history like maybank. Just a general one.
Penang General Hospital (PGH)/ Hospital Besar Pulau Pinang With negative comments on the Public Hospital, it's due time we also recognize the positives. I'm sure many have had bad experience, but many more have had better experiences. Well here's my story today, and I'll put in some relativity as well. As I said, there's also cons, but my experience today wasa all good, so that' what I'll write about. Today my dad fell and injured his toe, we were worried whether it was swollen. So PGH here we come. It was SUNDAY, 6pm. So we head of to PGH, find a parking spot (FREE) unlike somewhere else, and parking was relatively easy. But wait, Sundays and government hospitals open? Guess what, they've got their out patient clinic opened on weekends till ~9pm. Also for emergencies, you've got the Emergency & Casualty Dept. Don't you have to pay special consultation for weekends at private hospitals? Mmmm. We arrive at PGH, walk to the outpatient clinic, my dad just gives his IC and he's got a number. We wait ~25mins and it's our turn. I remember waiting longer at private clinics. The doctor greeets us, my dad tells the story, and she instructs him to go get an x-ray in the area of concern. We walk to the x-ray dept (5mins walk), registered, a very friendly nurse greets my father, tells him to wait outside room 4. 15mins, called in for x-ray. 5 mins get the x-ray film take it back to the doctor, wait 5mins for our turn, doctor checks x-ray, no fractures. Prescribes medicine. Walk to the pharmacy, less then 2 mins, we get the prescription and ask for an explantion on the medicine. Payment - I don't think more then a few ringgits, even for x-ray? MasyaAllah. Great job PGH specifically, great job Health Ministry and Gov generally.
Yuwie - Spam, Reality, Pyramid or just Yuwie? I recently came across an email from a friend inviting me to join Yuwie. The theme is, you get to do what you'd do in Facebook, MySpace, Multiply, and GET PAID!. I have always held close to a saying, If it's too good to be true, then IT IS too good to be true. Still benefit of the doubt, I tried searching some websites reviewing and sharing experience about Yuwie. 1. This one seems to be a very un-biased review. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/376955/paid_for_popularity_yuwiecom_pays_users.html?page=32.Or try http://www.contract-worker.com/should-freelancers-consider-yuwie/There's many comments/reviews you can google out. To summarize based on my readings and perceptions, seems like a pyramid, but you don't have to fork out any $ (as of until now). Seems like a MLM since you need your downliners to expand and grow revenue. Seems just like any social networking site, BUT just it pays. What did I do, I just gave it a try. Too good to be true? I hope not.
Free DVD/CD Burner. Simple, and very user friendly. Get's you the basics, make DVD (audio, data, movie) and CDs. Used to have problems viewing my Nero burnt DVD movies on my player, and using CDBurnerXP Pro 3 works just fine. Good for free. http://www.cdburnerxp.se/
Newly discovered restaurant for lunch, Ara Restu. Go Ara Restu.
A fine mixture between 'Lagaan' and Remember the Titans. With Queensbay Cinema opening recently, the crowd in Bukit Jambul Complex has dwindled, and the Cathay Cinema has changed ownership to LOTUS FIVE STAR STAR SCREEN CINEMAS KOMPLEKS BUKIT JAMBUL. The good thing (for some of us) is this place shows more of Tamil, Hindi and Malay movies. Even if you go watch Transformers there, the crowd is hardly there. Nice. Back to the movie, it is a fictional movie where Coach Kabir Khan (played nicely by Shah Rukh Khan) screws up a penalty kick in the world's final Hockey Champ. And now he is an outcast, blamed for the loss. 7 Years later he returns to train a super weak Women's Hockey team headed from the Champs. It's a movie about team spirit, and has a feel good to it. It's not all about watching ladies run around a ball with sticks in mini-skirts. Good watch. Enjoy.
